Pear tree leaves

Hi my wife has a young pear tree in our garden up to 3 days ago it was very healthy now it has got black spots on the leaves, can you please tell us what it is and how to treat it.

  • My pear tree is also suffering with back spots on the leaves .Quite badly this year .I Would like to know what it is and how to rectify this .The fruits appear alright ,but the tree looks very unhealthy .

    Based on your information, it's most likely a fungal leaf spot infection. Pear trees are more commonly affected by this, and they seldom cause issues with the pears.

    Cool damp spring and water droplets spread from rain splashes and wind also increase the chance of spreading it around. Advance stages will cause early leaf drop.

    Make sure leaves are raked away from the base and not left around the base over winter. You may want to look at the tree branches to prune out congested branching. That may help to create a more open habit that discourage fungal leaf infections. If it is a young tree, avoid watering over-head.
