Advice on beans and courgettes please? Are we over watering?
Hi there, we haven't had any problem growing in the past (we are by no means experts but have managed a few raised beds and veg patches without any difficulties over the years) but we planted our beans out and they seem to be dying as soon as we put them in the soil. This is the second lot that we put in (the first lot just wilted and died) and the courgettes too have simply shrivelled, turned white and disappeared into the soil. :-( Have we planted out too early? There haven't been any frosts. Or are we over-watering? Quick bit of research suggested this was a possibility. They are planted in compost in top soil, we had a huge delivery of new top soil, specifically for vegetables. We know that our water is high in alkaline, might that be the problem? Any advice would be great. We have two big raised beds and lots of plants to go in, but everything we put in keeps dying! :-(

Courgettes usually go out end of May beginning of June because of low night temperatures.
Where and how are the plants being started?
Do you give them a two week hardening period, or just put them out?
Is it very sunny when you transplant them, or are you waiting for cool, even wet days to plant them out?
You seem to have had some pest attack on the beans, but the lower leaves really look like they may have been very 'soft', like they were used to a greenhouse or propagator and were planted out before hardening off.
If you can rule out most of the above, then it could simply be watering, but it's been so dry here I could have watered the veg every night without over doing it for the last few weeks.
