How to hide an ugly brick wall

Hi all
I'm new to this so bear with me.
We have a very ugly brick shed in our garden that is right next to the patio. The garden is small and I'd like to do something to try and hide the ugliness of the bricks as we frequently sit outside.
I have thought about painting it with a textured paint and I have thought about painting it black but I am unsure if this is a good idea. I don't want to make it worse.
Any suggestions?

    HI , and welcome to the forum.
    Could you lift one of the slabs and plant something in front to grow over some trellis?

    Actually I rather like it, it adds character to the garden. Hostafan's suggestion is a good one though. A white rose or clematis would look good but steer clear of pink, red or orange flowers, they don't look well with redbrick.

    Don’t paint it!  It’s a nice wall that will look lovely with some trellis, as the others suggest.  If you can’t take up a paving slab, then some decent sized troughs or big pots would work. 

    If that seems like too much work, then consider wall mounted pots.  There are some nice ones available, but it will mean very regular watering.

    Thanks for your suggestions.  We will try a trellis and grow something up it.  Partner not keen on a mirror as the patio is very small (Approx 3m X 3m) and it will just reflect the badly put up fencing opposite done by previous owners.  He has a fair point!  At some point we will get around to having it all landscaped and a lovely new patio done!  For now, we will just try and hide the ugly bits! :)

    Turns out we couldn't have painted the wall anyway. Wall is built with flatten bricks and all the information on those says its not a good idea to paint over them without substantial preparation and then only using a ridiculously expensive type of paint. But we used the trellis idea instead and we're really happy with the result. It's brought a dull, boring patio wall toto life. Have bought passion flowers to grow up the trellis and am looking forward to seeing it when it's matured a little! :)
