Daffodils, hyacinths and tulips

hi guys! Sorry if this is a silly question, but I am a beginner. I have some bulbs in pots and others in the ground. With the pots, when they have finished flowering, and the leaves have shrivelled up, can I leave them where they are for next year? With the ones in the ground, is it best to remove and dry them?

I leave mine in the ground. I wouldn't count on the tulips flowering again next year. Some do, many don't.
Did you stop watering the potted ones straight after flowering?. They need the leaves to store up energy for next year so you need to water them a little for a while. They are best put somewhere in the ground out of sight to die in peace.

Thanks B3. No I have kept watering them, I have even read that you should give an occasional feed. Perhaps I will remove and discard the tulip bulbs then and try to retain the hyacinths and daffodils.

Yes, B3 - so do I (leave them where they are).  When I find the garden is getting overcrowded, I lift and divide the bulbs when the leaves have died, (for example, freesias)  dry them thoroughly and store them in a net (onion) bag in the laundry and plant them in February in the chosen spot.  P.S.  I suppose you have cut off the dead flowers, JWH99?

Hi Tuikowhai34! Yes I cut off the flowers after they have died off, the leaves are going yellow now . Thanks both for your help 😁

Before you throw the bulbs away, do you know which ones they were? Someone will be able to tell you if they're likely to flower again.

No, stupidly I didn’t keep the label, but I will learn from my mistake and not do that again.
