Insect Pests on Stachys

We have various Stachys in our garden and have never had problems in the past. However this year one quite large plant has been devastated by insect pests which are attached to the underside of the leaves. They are quite small, just three or four mm in length. Any ideas as to what they might be and how to treat them, gratefully received.
