Honeysuckle leaves turning black

I have a honeysuckle I planted last year. Last year the leaves turned black and a lot dropped off. This year the new leaves started of lovely but now turning again.

    Possibly mildew.  They need cool, damp roots and heads in the sun, plus some feed.  Both of ours are the same, they are not really in a happy spot.  I was going to give up on them, but we have pruned them back hard, and there is lots of new growth.

    I’m very new to gardening I’m training it over an arch which is in a sunny spot. The roots are in a shaded area. Thanks for your help.

    Give it a bucket full of water three times a week from now until mid September, even if it rains. More often if we have a hot dry spell. It’ll be much happier and more able to resist the powdery mildew which attacks when is stressed by being too dry at the roots.
