Please help me ID this tree

It’s infested with caterpillars and we are treating it but I’m wondering what exactly the tree is.

And what should we do with all the unsightly holey leaves once we’ve killed the pests? Cut them all off, leaving the tree really bare but hoping we’ll get lots of fresh growth? And is now the time to prune it?

 Many thanks

I’ve seen tiny caterpillars, or perhaps more accurately they’re larvae.
Thanks for the ID. I thought viburnum were bushes - are they meant to grow into what look more like trees or is ours just overgrown?

I can’t open your link but when I search for viburnum beetle larvae they look like them.
