What is this weed?

Hi,
I'm wondering what this persistent weed is and how I can kill it?
I have scoured the internet to try and find out what it is but I can't find it.
When I try to pull it up; if you don't pull it from the root, the stem joints disconnect
I've tried standard weedkiller but it doesn't kill the root. It seems to be spreading round the garden.
Can anyone give me any hints please?
Thanks

It is horsetail, Equisetum Arvense. Very difficult to eradicate. You just need to carry on weeding. Use an L-shape weeder on the patio area.

Watch our for the fruiting bodies which look a bit like a toadstool from outer space. Pull them and bag and bin them before they can spread their tiny smokey spores and make it worse.

    Good luck 😊

  • Ooh ok I will do thank you for the advise!
  • Get rid, or it will seriously devalue your property.

    pulling it up won’t work
    glyphosate won’t work
    blocking the light won’t work
    Praying won’t work

Ammonium Sulphamate is the only answer.
