Soil shortage during COVID-19

I have a soil shortage but have managed to purchase a bag of compost for geraniums and flowering plants.  Does anyone know if it would be OK to plant vegetables in it and lavender or will it damage the plants?

Thank you for your reply Phillipa.  It is a new bag of soil especially mixed for geraniums and flowering plants.  I believe it has certain fertilisers in it to get wonderful blooms!  As I have a shortage of ordinary soil and multi purpose compost I wondered if this new bag would be too potent for 'just started veggie plants' and carrot seeds or if, in times of hardship, any soil would do?  I shall go by your answer, thank you for the advice.
