Help with lawn in flower beds

Hello Everyone

Could you help with a big problem please. Had our garden landscaped 8 years ago, didn't think about it at the time and don't know whether it's the problem or the norm.

The contractor didn't remove the lawn just churned it up with the rest of the garden before laying new turf, so now we can't keep up with reappearing grass in the flower borders as it grows much faster and stronger than weeds. Is it a case of just keeping it at bay or is there a way to get rid for good without killing the other plants?

Many thanks

Hard to say, but grass growing in borders can happen anyway if there are things like Couch grass from the lawn or even from next door neighbours' gardens. If it's a lot, you may need to plan ahead in autumn to dig out all your border plants and re-weed and dig up the grass, making sure all the roots are removed.

I had a similar problem, and tirelessly dug out grass as they appeared. I saw that as part of weeding. It eventually died off because I had so many plants that covered the soil for much of the year. Others may offer another view on how to tackle it.

Thank you for your help Borderline, I thought that may be the case. I didn't realise there was another post asking the same question and received the same advice. 🌹😊
