Loquat Tree Yellow Leaves

Hi, I planted a loquat tree last year and it had done well producing new leaves. However, they have started to turn yellow and fall off, even the new ones. I’ve lost over 20 so far. Any ideas? Overwatering? Under watering? Thanks

I wouldn't worry too much about the lighter leaves. Most likely due to the warmth/heat recently, and the plant is trying to catch up and growing fast. Watering and making sure the soil is kept moist at all times will be the priority. They are quite tough plants if grown in an area that doesn't get much frost.

As Boderline says they are quite tough and wouldn't worry.  I have a 10 year old tree grown from a Loquat seed and it's continually shedding leaves but also continues to grow new ones.
  • Thanks for your comments. I had stopped watering it - I was worried I had been overwatering it  as there is a tree fern near by I was spraying. I’ll start watering again. Thanks!
