Peony - planted but roots broke

Hi everyone,
I bought a lovely peony yesterday but as I took it out of the container to plant, the majority of it’s healthy roots broke - eek! I’ve never planted a peony before and didn’t realise how fragile it would be, so just wondering, without the majority of its roots, will it make it!? Anything I can do to help it along the way? Thanks everyone!
