Purple on pepper plant

SkylarksSkylarks Posts: 379
Both my pepper plants have some purple colouring on the stalk. Is this normal? Or is there a problem?

Also, not sure how to stalk to support it. Should I remove the twine as it looks like it’s getting in the way.

It’s the first time I’ve been able to grow a pepper plant as the one I planted from seed last year got devoured by slugs.

The larger one was purchased from a GC a week before lockdown and the smaller one was grown from seed. The larger one was going a bit yellow a few weeks ago, I repotted as the roots were starting to show underneath, fed with some chicken pellet mixed in water and it turned back green.

Any tips/advice appreciated. Thank you.

Looks fine to me, a very healthy plant. Many varieties of pepper have the purple splodges on the stem Skylarks nothing to worry about and the support looks fine for now too just as long as the string cannot rub.

That’s perhaps perfectly normal. Just keep the string lose so it doesn’t restrict growth.
    It’s a nice plant.

Thank you both, that is reassuring. I’ll loosen the string now.
