Irrigation system advice

This may never happen of course but we are planning to be away on holiday for a week in August.  I’m thinking about getting a basic drip feeding irrigation system like this one, which uses a bucket of water rather than attached to hose, as would rather use rainwater.  Has anyone used anything like this before?  Do they work?  I’m mostly growing things in pots this year.  https://www.thompson-morgan.com/p/garden-gear-automatic-watering-system/g2530TM

I've used autopot. It's truly excellent, the flood and drain system grows very healthy plants, but with 2 caveats. It's incredibly expensive for more than a handful of pots, and the feeder tank must be higher than your pots as it's gravity fed, which is a challenge for greenhouse staging (5 gallons of water 5 feet off the ground is a recipe for trouble).

Thanks for your reply.  I’ll take a look 👍

I've never seen that product before but it is ridiculously cheap for watering 10 plants automatically. I've seen a few self watering devices but I like the look of that - my only concern would be how well made it is for that price. If it works, that would be a pretty nifty gadget
  • Yes, this is probably a case of you get what you pay for, but for under £20 it might be worth a gamble.  I can’t go for any kind of timed hose or sprinkler system as the foxes would pull it to shreds the minute we left.  They had quite a time ripping out our outdoor lights last time we went on holiday! 🦊
