New plants from Scabious
Hi everyone
My Scabious (new 2019) has a lot of what look like new plants on the ends of last years stems which I didn't cut back. The stems are twisted and the weight of the new growth is causing them to lie on the soil. Would it be best to cut the plantlets off and treat as cuttings or pin them down and hope they would work as root cuttings. They already have flower buds and look very healthy but the old stems look dry and twisted. I never have success keeping scabious - can anyone help please. Plantlets are as big as my open hand.

I have had success with rooting a broken off piece in a pot of gritty compost but it did already have a small root forming where it had touched the ground.
I have not tried from cuttings as it naturally wants to reproduce itself via layering.
