Courgette and beans seeds sowing

newbie77newbie77 Posts: 1,838
I sowed courgette seeds outside directly in the large container it is supposed to grow in few weeks ago. Still no sign of germination.
I realize i sowed way too early.

I have more seeds left. Shall i now sow these indoors or shall i again direct sow outside? Same question for few beans.

I would probably go for outdoors now. Put two or three courgette seeds in each station, thin to the strongest one. By the time you start them off indoors, then harden them, we'll be in June.

I think it depends where you are.  I sowed my courgettes and runner beans in a heated propagator a week ago - a warm windowsill would be fine too.  Yes, you'll need to harden them off before planting them out, but the first week in June is when mine will go in the ground.  If you live somewhere mild you'd get away with direct sowing, but I'd not do that until late May even so...
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

When they get their first true leaf is when I start to harden them off assuming the weather is co-operating.
Mine are only just germinated inside under lights at the moment, they will not go out until the last week of May/first week of June.
