STRANGE GROWTH ON EVERGREEN SHRUB

I have noticed a strange growth on an evergreen bush as per attached photo. Does anyone know what it could be?

Could it be a type of fungus ?  Sorry not very helpful, I’ll go and do some research, it’s fascinating !
  • It has been suggested to me that it could be Cedar-apple rust fungi. This however is referred to on a USA website.

Yes, it's a rust and likely the one which spends the other half of it's life infecting pear trees which is called Pear Rust when it does that.
A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.
  • Thanks. Is there any treatment for it?
