Bizarrely the excess tomato plants which I had planted out because I ran out of greenhouse space seemed unaffected by the temperatures last night whereas my potatoes definitely look very sorry for themselves.
Singing gardener I've just been outside and realised my potatoes have been frost damaged! Argh!! Are you going to do anything? I cant remember what I did last time that happened. I'm not having a good day...
Have you been watching Blackadder @BobTheGardener? I regularly get stuff nipped by frost [ ie shrubs etc] but you learn very quickly here not to put stuff out when it's too early. It's also why it doesn't pay to overfeed plants - too much soft growth - more stuff to get nipped. I grow mine hard
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

I’m convinced tomatoes are tougher than people give them credit for. Fingers crossed there are no more surprise cold spells.
Right silage plastic works, the ones under it still have flowers with nice yellow centers the few we couldn't cover have flowers with black centers which means they got frosted, I'm not worried about the plants but losing all the fruit would seriously suck.
Apparently we’re getting our frost tomorrow night ... we’ve got a few figs plumping up nicely ... they’ve got nice tailor made bubble wrap coats to wear 🤣
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
The forecast for tonight has changed from 6 to 2oC. I’ve covered up the tender stuff outside as best I can and brought anything I can inside. Didn’t think this is what I’d be using my gym for. Fingers crossed. This is all far too stressful!
