Planting around a pond in the paddock

We have a large pond in the middle of a paddock primarily for wildlife but are struggling with plants around the edge to make it look more natural. It is lined and as a result has little soil around the edge. It is also in in full sun.
Thank you
Jackie

    When was it dug?

It'll eventually be naturally colonized when some form of sediment builds up or you could add some form of substrate in the margins - aquatic soil, clay, grass sods or just pebbles would do. Something for the roots to anchor in.

Then its a case of purchasing and planting them (or just let nature do it).

Puddleplants is a popular supplier and they do bundle packs to suit your pond size.
