Potted Hydrangea

Given as a gift this plant in a pot is slowly wilting and dying. A pale blue flower which was blooming in April (a bit early?). What is wrong and what can I do to save it please?

They're often forced into flower early - usually for Easter, which is why it's been in flower at that time.

What care have you given it since? Did you plant it outside without acclimatising it? That often causes problems because of the over cossetted care they've previously had.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

  • Still in the pot. Scant instructions said keep out of direct sunlight so kept it indoors.

Hydrangeas are hardy, outdoor  shrubs, but are often sold in this way as a house plant.
I think they hope they'll just die and people will buy something else to replace it.
    Do you have a photo?
If you click on the little icon that looks like a mountain, and follow the instructions, that will let you upload a pic.  :)
They need watered regularly and they also need good drainage. They also can't stay long term in the pots they come in.
