I would only add that the manure you need to add to the border must be well rotted stuff, at least 6 months old - not the fresh stuff which might burn the roots. You will need borders of at least 3-4 ft wide to accommodate those roses, even though they will be quite small to start with. We will look forward to seeing the 'after' pics please.
I would say anure at least 12 months old, hah Fairy you hav e taken the words right out of my keyboard, yes, something spikey, do you sueeze test on your soil, put some in a bucket, wet it, see if it sticks together, clay, roses love that.
Good geranium to go with your roses (if you've chosen Sir John Betjeman shown on the previous page) would be geranium Johnson's Blue or other similar. Nepeta would be also good with them or gaura. While they are small, you can also add some annuals in gaps.

Oh Yes those are the roses I have chosen but I have gone for hardy geranium Album. I was hoping to put a standard rose tree in the top left corner but they don’t seem to be in stock just yet. I have one in my back garden and love it.
My my husband is not to pleased with me as I have now given him a job to do over the weekend....digging me borders lol bless him. ( I would of done it but 7wks post op from a hysterectomy) 😂
thank you you every one I will defo show you a photo of my progress. X
That’s a lovely rose, great colour. It can have a floppy growth habit, so fairly informal in style, I believe, so might need some support, especially in it’s formative years. As you can’t put a fence up to contain it, a row of those ‘half-moon with legs’ metal plant supports might do it - with the added bonus of providing another barrier to invading dogs and people but definitely not a fence, gov The supports will be invisible when the roses are in leaf/bloom.
