Aucuba japonica - brown spots, moved house

We moved from Hertfordshire to Argyll in November.  Our Aucuba got it's bottom leaves munched off - deer we think.  We just laughed about that.  However I have just noticed that despite masses of new growth it has also developed a LOT of brown spots.  It's never had this before.  I can't work out from web searches whether this is a) too much rain, b) too much sun, c) too much wind, d) something else. Most grateful for some advice as I don't know what to do to save it

It looks like leaf scorch, water on leaves then hot sun.
It needs a larger pot or best in the ground.
