Privet Hedge

Hi, can someone help please. My newly planted privet hedge of 6-8months old seems to be dying on me. Can anyone assist in what it might be and solve the problem. Thank you!!

I think we would need to see how and where it’s planted, from the diagonal pictures looks like it’s planted to close to the pavement, maybe a dog has wee’d on it, can you stand back and take the photos so we see the whole picture.
    Difficult to say from those.

    Hi Lyn,

thank you for your response and I’ve added a couple of further pics. Firstly, I was worried it was fungal and then whether it is drought stress

They're planted very close to the pavement, which probably has fairly deep footings so the plants can only grow roots on one side, and there there's competition from the grass.
They would also have needed a lot of water both in the autumn (if I remember rightly, the rain didn't really start until November) and in the spring starting as soon as the weather turned dry.
