Biblical proportion

Moved house today (you can in some circumstances) to cut to the chase there were two nests in the garage, the removal guys thought they were spiders nests.

Now I' not a lover of spiders but the first one, is the size of a golf ball, which I was ok with and had wondered whether it was a solitary bee hive if there is such a thing.

The 2nd one was huge, about the size of a yellow melon, roundish in shape and a mass of solid webs with an indent at the top, which I'm not ok with. Clearly no one has ventured into the garage for years judging by the age and condition of stuff in there but I'm going to use it for storage. The question is what to do , I've emailed the letting agency but don't expect a response until Monday.

I'm not asking what my landlord needs to do, I'm asking what should I  do if it was my garage, I don't want to fall out with new landlord on day one :)

I'm interested to know what these spiders are. They sound unusual. Would love to see a pic, close up if you can bear it, for identification.

There didn't appear to be any signs of life but didn't get to close. Not sure how to post pictures, I'm going back to the house later today as I'm in between houses so will take some pics later.

I've emailed the council pest control but they charge.

Didn't get a picture but the council got back saying they no longer dealt with spiders nests, the landlord was really nice he got back and  thought it was an old beehive and said it had been there for sometime.....so...  I knocked it off with a broom and headed for kitchen, I wasn't pursued by a swarm of bee's and didn't look back to see if there were any spiders.
