New Turf Help

Hello,
This is my first post and we're both gardening novices. We moved in to a new build on Halloween 2019 and the garden was just a mud pit. Two weeks ago we had turf laid on the bottom section of our garden.
We initially tried to prep the ground ourselves but ended up paying a local company as the ground where we live is really thick clay soil and it needed a petrol rotavator to break it up.
We purchased the turf for a local reputable garden centre with lots of good reviews. Everything was going great until this past couple of days when we've noticed almost every inch of the 40m2 turfed area is covered with meadow grass/bluegrass?
We've tried to google around but some websites say its a weed and others say it isn't. I haven't contacted the company yet as they aren't open weekends at the moment and are operating reduced hours.
Is this something we need to complain about or is it normal?
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!
