Mystery Palm Trees

leeb85leeb85 Posts: 2
We moved into our house a few months ago and the garden has half a dozen palm trees.
Need help identifying what type they are and how to care for them.
They are producing berries (deep purple in colour) and want to make sure they aren’t dangerous as we have a 3 year old and another on the way.
New seeds coming through higher up on some of the palms, these are bright yellow.
Also want to know if OK to cut back the lower leaves or if this will damage the entire palm?
Pictures attached, any help appreciated!

I think they are Chusan Palms, Trachycarpus Fortunei. If you need to remove the lower leaves, it should be fine.

Thanks, that’s brilliant, should I remove the yellow seeds as well?

I have no idea. Never grown them myself, but admired them in people's front gardens. I suspect they will eventually fall off on their own accord when the fruit forms.

The flowers will fall off eventually, but it will take a while and can look messy.  We prune them off after flowering.  They are very tolerant of pruning, so prune off any dead or discoloured leaves that you don't like the look of.
