I’m pretty sure this is a group 2 clematis. I think it’s come out much quicker because of the lovely sunshine we’ve had. Should I trim the flowers back now, will more flowers keep coming? Thankyou also where to snip please?
Agree, don't touch it until all the petals have fallen. At that point, if you don't mind losing the seedheads (which can be very attractive on some cultivars) then snip each one off close to the stem it came from. Often these types will then grow a bit more foliage and then a second flush of flowers will appear in the autumn.
If you prefer the flowers to come later in general, you can try pruning it as a group 3 next February. You will then likely get just the one flowering period but in summer.
A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.
Ah that’s great thanks @punkdoc and @BobTheGardener. I will leave alone! I thought you may have to keep deadheading and then you get more blooms. Have a good day
