Couch Grass (Elymus repens): Any Success Stories?

One approach I am now thinking about is reel/push mowing around 2-3 times a week over the Spring/Summer.

Does anyone think this might have a glimmer of hope of reducing the couch grass?

    Kind Regards,

I had a massive couch grass problem up until recently. In my experience mowing regularly (2-3 times per week) low (~13mm) does *not* get rid of it. Scarifying can make it worse as the rhizomes are severed and the couch multiplies. I've resorted to starting again and nuking the whole area with Round Up.

Thanks for the response! While the responses are disappointing terms of a resolution it is also good to have only one option, even if it is the nuclear approach :) !!

Did you simply use roundUp and reseed the whole area or did you rotavate as well?

    How have your results been?

I used Round Up twice with 2 weeks in between then scarified it 4 ways to try to dig out as much old stuff as possible then reseeded. Only seeded a few days ago so too early for results but I'm hopeful!
