Payed topsoil now heaved with rain

We dug a concrete base up and got topsoil delivered. Needed about on average 3” across 25’x30’. Got 3/4 done and roughly levelled........... then heavens opened up before had time to pack it down slightly now it’s stopped raining but like a quagmire/sodden. Tried raking a bit but sliding around so stopped. Anyone any ideas. Or do I have to just wait for it to dry out.

    Let it dry out walking on it will make things worse.

    Was meant to say “laid” topsoil

    Yes ... I’m afraid it’s ‘leave it to drain’. 

    On the other hand, if it’s not draining quickly then it may be revealing a drainage problem in that area which will be easier (and cheaper) to fix now than when it’s a night soggy lawn. 

    Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
