I wish I hadn't thrown it away

I saw a strange thing when I was weeding today. I pulled out a buttercup but there was another plant that seemed to be grafted onto it. It looked a bit like a nightshade/ solanum or maybe  a bugle type of thing. The buttercup forked in two well above the root and this other plant grew out of one of the stems. There was definitely only one root system -buttercup type.
Has anyone seen this before?

I didn't put much on the compost heap yesterday. Maybe it's at the top. I'll gave a little poke around.

@pansyface. I had a look. It's like looking for a needle in a compost heap😕 . I think it will have to remain one of life's little mysteries😊
