Manuring deep beds

When we came to dig over the deep bed we have planned for our runner beans we found our cat has decided it's a lovely toilet area. Can we dig his manure in and if so, how deeply? Or should we try and remove it? Of course, we will then put mesh or something over it to stop a repeat performance! Thanks for any advice

Personally I would try and remove it. Nothing worse than a handful of cat crap when you are planting. I have started to wear thin latex gloves  when handling soil . That said, it won't harm runner beans unless he also squirts upwards.  I wouldn't plant root crops in it.

If you're growing food, remove as much as you can and replenish the soil as it will have a lot of urine too. Make sure you deodorise/clean that area so it doesn't feel all that "familiar" to the cat. Good luck in changing the behavioural pattern...
