Rhubarb is looking a bit worse for wear, anything I can do to bring it on a bit.

It looks no worse than it did 5 days ago which is no time at all for a recovery, patience is needed now.  Also the stalk cover should come off in good weather you only need to protect it from water getting in.

Just a wee update, speaking to my neighbour over the fence about how the rhubarb was doing particularly well, and to my surprise when i looked up at it, 2 brand new shoots had appeared since the day or 2 that i last looked. Looks like £1 worth spent

I am really pleased for you  :)  You must leave it be this year if you want more than a £1s worth of rhubarb. Look after it over the winter and next year you will enjoy a good harvest.

That was going to be my next question was whether to harvest or not, also what would i do for winter?

    I agree. 👍
Now give it plenty of water throughout the summer  and lots of organic mulch and just let it grow. Don’t pick anything ... let it build up a viable crown and store up energy for next year. Hopefully you’ll be able to pull a few stalks next year and by the following year you’ll have a really productive plant 😊
As above ... don’t pick any this year. Pick just a little next year. Never take more than one third of the stalks. Stop picking at end of June every year. Mulch and water throughout the summer.

It’ll die down over winter and reappear in the spring.
