Why didn’t my Kojo-no-mai flower this year?

I have two identical miniature flowering cherry trees in containers. One flowered wonderfully this year and one began to flower and then looked completely dead! Can anyone advise please?

Is the dead one more exposed to cold wind perhaps? Mine has got half dead stems and half flowered - I rather think they could be a bit tempermental .

  • Thank you for your advice. They are both pretty much in the same position either side of the front porch . They both started off really well as they began to flower and then one morning one had gone brown and the other was fine.
i wondered if it had been damaged by frost.
    i just hope I haven’t lost it!

It looks pretty dead to me!

Probably one was a bit more sheltered or got more water than the other I think. If you cut a bit off one of the dead looking branches and it is brown, I'm afraid it is dead. You can keep cutting bits off carefully until you see any green, which might survive but I don't hold out much hope.
