Hedgehogs do sometimes get in the most awkward places. They have even been found in attics (presumably climbing up ivy or other climbers). Then they are stuck and can't get back out with tragic consequences,so it is great that this one has been found safe!

He's lucky I had cat food in the house, I don't have a cat but saw a hedgehog (could have been the same one) in the garden in daylight, so I have been putting some food out at night.
Well found @Yviestevie. Hope he gets fit soon and sticks around afterwards.
I expect homes are just a tad overwhelmed at the mo - sick residents and reduced staff levels cos of Covid - and don't have time to od technology. I hope they can get round to your mum and @punkdoc's too.

Twinkle (because he's a little star) is doing well, hopefully I'll be able to release him into the garden in a day or so. Hubby is out this morning trying to find where he got into the cellar, but so far no joy. We have had the back door open and the cellar door open quite a bit while we've been decorating and we are starting to wonder whether he just came in through the conservatory while we weren't looking.
You are doing all the right things where Twinkle is concerned My only worry would be if he or she was wandering around during the day before ending up in the cellar, but if he's eating and drinking well and there are no signs of ticks he should be okay. The only other thing would be internal parasites that the rescue would need to test for, but if they're happy for you to let him go then that's great. It's amazing the places they end up in 🦔
Twinkle may be renamed Houdini as he escaped from his box and managed to squeeze under the bed settee. It took us a while to find him and then we had to upend the sofa to get him out. He's been eating and drinking well so we are going to let him go tonight. I'll keep an eye out for him to see if he's walking about in the daylight over the next few days.
