Can anyone identify this pretty little geranium. It pops up every year but I don't know what it is

    Looks like Geranium phaeum.

Take a look at Geranium Phaeum, the Dusky Cranesbill. Could be that one.

    Just what I was thinking @punkdoc ... possibly G. phaeum ‘Samobor’ ?

Are there purple blotches on the leaves too?  Then yes, phaeum.

It self seeds quite freely but is easy to remove it gets to be too invasive.  If you cut it back hard once flowering finishes it will produce fresh new foliage and look better for the rest of the season.

We have phaeum selfseeded around here ... quite a few of them don’t have the blotches.

The ones I had without blotches had white flowers!  Purpley ones always have purple blotches for me and have carried on since I brought a couple from the Belgian garden - passengers in hosta and rose pots.
