2 x Plant identification help please :)

Hi All

I think the tall pinkish ones are weeds, but really not sure. They are mostly growing under an apple tree but in a couple of other shady spots.

The second I think is just a type of ivy i'm hoping.

Thanks in advance

thank you! worth saving do you think?
  • Aquilegia come in many different varieties and are among my favourite flowers, so I'd definitely save them! Beautiful flowers, and easy to collect seed from should you want more.

They're absolute tarts so you never know what colour you'll get. I like the white ones the best but they're rare. Blues, purples and pinks are more common.

I think I will keep them then. they look like they'll be a pinky colour but not long moved in. Thanks for the advice.

Any ideas on the other one? Im worried its knotweed, but doesn't have the woody stem so maybe just ivy?

The second looks like bindweed, the lesser one. Its a thug so be sure to dig down and try to remove as much root as you can.
  • the second one is bindweed, which is a nuisance. you need to get rid of it. it can regrow from just a small amount of root, so weedkiller is probably the best solution.

right ok. sounds like a pain in the bum. I think it is stemming from my neighbours garden. I will have to have a chat with him. not sure how that will go!
