How could this way of planting in the cracks between bricks produce lush crops?

Assuming this isn't fake, then this gardener never digs her soil, and has enough nutrition under her patio to get amazing produce year after year. What sort of soil might she have?

    Fertiliser is probably the answer, I don't think it's fake I've seen too many videos of her and that garden. including close ups of the roots. She probably uses some form of hydroponic fertiliser, there are videos of some kind of foliar feed going on.

    Fertiliser would be needed, yes, but what about the soil itself? Normally we'd want to dig the soil over, but she can't do that, so I'm guessing it's not solid clay. Might it be extremely sandy?
