One plant would work well there especially from seed - Dwarf Greek Oregano It grows in tiny cracks. Smells wonderful and doesn't mind getting trod on a bit, lovely pink flowers in the summer and tastes good too. It started growing just outside my lounge door a few years ago and remained until I had the house renovated.

Just sow direct- it would be impossible to transplant seedlings I think.
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
But will not just stay in the narrow bed..it will escape.
