Oak Sleeper Fungus

Hello everyone, hope you're all keeping safe.
Just recently I had to dismantle an oak sleeper raised bed due to the sleepers being rotten. I stacked them up so that they are out of the way for a moment and now I've found fungus growing from some of them. I think it might be an oyster mushroom, perhaps someone knows for sure what it is (see pics)

  • I'll be sure to identify it before eating it, don't worry  ;)  ;)  ;)

That certainly looks like a fine oyster mushroom.
  • Thanks Steephill. I can't wait to know for sure because if they are edible.... :D Woohoo

https://www.wildfooduk.com/mushroom-guide/oyster-mushroom/ has more useful info. Try taking a spore print to help identify. Oyster mushrooms are definitely edible but don't eat any mushroom unless you are 100% certain about identity. There are not many other mushrooms around at the moment which makes identifying easier.

  • That's a very useful site. I must admit that in all the sites I've looked at I've never seen that one.  I'll Google taking a spore print because I've never done that. And thanks for the advice regarding not eating what I think is a mushroom.  I'm aware that eating a toadstool is very dangerous  ;)
