Is the bush ill?

Hi,

As I mentioned in a different thread I am completely new to gardening and I moved to a house this winter which has a mature garden. I do not know what most of it is.
There is a bush that I think may be a bit sick. The front of it (side closest to the house) is perfectly green as seen in the middle photo, then it has some leaves that are sort of yellow and green (as seen in the last photo). What concerns me is that closest to the hedge there is a lot of yellow and some of it very limp and the branches have the black spots that can be seen in the first picture.
I am not sure if the bush has some sort of infestation or something or how to treat it if so. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks for the help

It might be you have a variegated shrub and some stems have reverted to plain green.
    Sorry can't help with rest.

I have one of those (can't remember its name unfortunately - maybe one of the bigger types of euonymus). It was originally yellow and green variegated, but now also produces some branches with green leaves and some with almost fully yellow . Those ones also tend to have yellow bark when young, and it develops the same reddish-brown rougher bark as yours has, as it ages. I think it's normal. The plant seems healthy anyway.

  • I will post a picture of the not healthy side (where the branch was) later on when I can get one. My concern is that the yellow/green is getting ill and the yellow has just gone completely. The Japanese acer (I just found out what it was) next to it seems to have lots of little black bugs in the underneath of the leaves which I am not sure would be related.

The yellow and green looks like normal variegation to me. Here's mine for comparison.
