It's pretty now, what will it do next .. would like to know what it is.

    I think it could be Annual Ragweed, Ambrosia Artemisiifolia.

    Causes a lot of hay-fever. I once had a very severe reaction to it, my eyes swelled up so much I looked like I'd done 10 rounds with Mike tyson.

    I'm still chewing on this, slightly. Pictures I find of young artemisia plants look a bit different. There are many species, it certainly looks close to the mark.

    I know what you mean, the silver leaf underside and the purplish brown stems made me think it was Artemisia Vulgaris (Mugwort) at first but the leaves of your plant are opposite. I have some young artemisia plants in the garden I'll go and get a few pics for.

    These are Artemisia Vulgaris, if left alone its got more of an upright growth habit, sometimes just a single thick stem that can get 8ft tall. I pinched these as out as I grew them from seed so thats why they're bushier.

    Yours looks more like it has a rosette formation, like the way dandelion, hawksbit and cats ear grow.

    @cassie.a.stewart , @Asarum and @Bijdezee I'm thinking it might actually be Papaver dubium. This is a pretty good match: http://bioimages.vanderbilt.edu/thomas/0599-01-12

    I found the first hint here, http://www.downgardenservices.org.uk/weedlf.htm - this seems a good site for foliage-based identification of various weeds, I found it by searching for weed and rosette - this is from memory, as I spent a lot of searches!

    Will keep an eye on it ... I may need to water it actually, as it sits on top of the stones lining my fire pit. It got drenched over spring, hence the luxurious growth, but weather conditions no longer support its early exuberance.
