Help identifying mystery Pupa

Found two of these hooked onto the foam inside pond filter, they have three barbs but one (to the left of photo) came off when I picked it up to photograph!

    Three ‘barbs’ makes me think of damselfly nymph. Have a google and see if there’s any images that match.

    Damselflies are hemimetabolous insects that have no pupal stage in their development.

    That’s why I said nymph... I wondered if it could be nymph that’s got caught in the filter and died there and started to break up ... but it’s very hard to see any detail on that photo  :/
