Growth on potted acer plant

Hello, please see attached photographs.  I've only just noticed these little suckers on the bark of an acer.  Should I be worried?  Is there anything I can do to remove them without harming the plant?

Those are scale insects.  You can gently scrub them off using a small stiff brush such as a nail brush etc.  Some warm, slightly soapy water will help as they have waxy coatings which protect them from water and bug sprays.
A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.

If that doesn't work, you can use alcohol. They're not particular.
    In London. Keen but lazy.
  • Thanks Bob and B3.  When it comes to alcohol neither am I, lol
