New Tree Appeared in Garden

Hello again, 

Just wondering if anyone has an idea what this tree may be? It has only become noticeable this year. There is a plum tree the other side of the fence, can they self seed?

    Looks very much like a goat willow to me - utterly ugly and useless and will get huge if you don't get rid quick.
    Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.
