Vorgebirgstrauben cucumber: is it a climbing type?

ManderMander Posts: 349
I've never tried to grow cucumbers but on a whim I bought a packet of seeds from the supermarket. They are apparently a variety known as Vorgebirgstrauben but I haven't been able to figure out if they grow on a vine that needs a trellis of some sort or if they grow as a bush. Anyone happen to be familiar with this type?

It's a variety grown for picking small and often used for pickling.  It will need support and will grow to about 2.5m if you let it.  However, with all cucumbers you can let it reach the top of the support then pinch-out the growing tip and let 2 sideshoots develop and trail back down.  Nip the tip out of those 2 trailing sideshoots when they near the ground.
A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.
