Creeping buttercup?

I thought the attached was a creeping buttercup so I dug it up.  However, I can still see the form of the earth where I took it out of the pot so I obviously bought it. The leaves look wrong for a buttercup.  Unfortunately I can't find the label for it.  Can anyone help?

    The leaves aren't right for a buttercup. Don't know what it is though

    Thanks. Could it be a potentilla? Although the plant shape looks wrong to me.

    Had a Google. Have a look at cinquefoils. They look right
