Happy/sad. The sweet bitterness of monocarpism

I've been growing this saxifraga longifolia for about 5 years now knowing that when it flowers it will be spectacular but will also kill the plant. It looks like this is the year. :| It was supposed to be planted out but I never got around to it...

I have a collection of Sempervivum and the flowered rosettes die after flowering.Usually I have plenty of pups but last year a couple of my new editions flowered without producing any first  :(
The variety 'Sioux' is getting ready to flower. The flowers are quite beautiful if you take the time to look!

Thanks. I keep them in a toddler resistant enclosure to try and prevent them getting broken. :#  Seeds may be an option and they are supposed to be self-fertile but apparently they hybridise fairly easily so I might not end up with the same plant. Worth a go though I hope. I'm amazed it survived the vine weevils to even reach the flowering stage.
