New dwarf fruit tree care

I’m new to growing fruit trees & treated myself to 4 bare root dwarf’s this year.
They seem to be coming on well. I’m not expecting any fruit this year but if I do get fruit (the site I bought them from said it was possible), should I take the fruit off with the trees being so young? Or would the trees need a support system? I can’t see how the tiny branches would carry the weight, but maybe I’m underestimating them!
Trees are cherry, plum, pear and apple.
Any other new dwarf fruit tree advice welcome!
Thank you :)

  • I am interested in any answers you may get here as I'm in the same boat. Earlier this year I planted a dwarf rootstock apple tree (Braeburn).... will watch this space.

If your dwarf trees are grafted, beware of winters where they might break dormancy. Either because of a warm, prolonged spell or because of temperatures that go up and down a lot. I lost a dwarf peach tree and now "I am left growing the rootstock" because the graft died during a bad winter.
