i really like this show but they give prices that seem low?

    I watch the show and the budget is 3000.  A planner here in texas is 3000 just for a plan?

    They say in the show that the budget is only covering the materials and plants. They will also be buying these at wholesale/trade prices. The biggest part of the cost of any real-life building work is often the labour.

    Without doubt - the main cost is labour @jamesholt .
    They aren't paying for the plans either. 
    I think people seriously underestimate how much it costs to have anything done in this country. It would have cost me thousands to do the boundary fence in this [relatively small] garden, but I did it myself, so it was only the materials - and my time and sweat. 
    It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

    It’s a bit of a tease, but if you’re watching as someone who will be doing it themselves (like me) it does give you an idea of what can be achieved...over a very long time. 😀

    I’ve said a few time on this forum that some of the quality of work on Garden Rescue imo is so poor that I’d want a refund 
    I prefer Charlie’s design as the Rich brothers seem to be fascinated in grasses and trees that will normally grow to big for the size of garden 
    When the ask the client if they think their money has been well spent, some of them hesitate before giving their answer 
    I know it’s done mainly on a cheap budget but paint the fences, lay new lawn and use edging when you lay the bonded gravel would make the finished job look a lot better.

    Some of the design ideas are clever and can be adapted or adopted by amateur gardeners.   Some of the execution and finishing could be better and they really ought to show, just occasionally, plant roots being thoroughly watered and teased out before being plonked in a hole.

    However, it is definitely a show about what can be done rather than a how to show and they do state very clearly that the budget only covers plants and materials, not labour, machinery hire or design.
