Colour schemes; buildings and garden

JoeXJoeX Posts: 1,783
Hi all,

I’ve just built another garden storage unit and before painting it, yet again I’m thinking how to colour scheme *everything*.  I usually try something new and don’t like it, so I’ve got a hodge podge of garden buildings, furniture and planters that are all different colours.

There lots of pictures on the net of nice sheds, or planters or fences, but they are almost always in isolation from the house itself.

Is there any advice out there on linking the external colours of your house to your garden spaces?

I’d like it simple, but not monotone.

Cheers,

TP

I'd go for mostly sage green and a little cream that's not too yellow
    In London. Keen but lazy.

I’m asking about aligning colours to the house itself, rather than merely choosing paint colour in isolation.

    Does that make sense?

    What colour is your house?

I may repaint the house in the coming year so I’m wondering *how* people link the colours of their property, if there are methods or resources out there rather than asking for colour recommendations.

To be honest,  l go for "neutral" colours such as black for pergolas etc. Apart from anything else, it shows the plants off better. The greenhouse is painted red cedar which kind of matches the house brickwork but that was more by accident than design.
Personally l would make a firm decision on the house colour and once that's done, you can ask for advice on the linking colour(s)  :)

Oddly enough I recently redid the masonry paint on the lower part of my house to match my fences. Fences dark grey, I did the house walls in light grey. The colour was "country cream" before and it jarred slightly.
